DAY 125 - Leading by Example
I promise that I can tell my kids exactly how to overcome an obstacle and they will nod their heads and walk away and do the exact opposite. Then someone else can come along and tell them the exact same thing and they will report back to me as if they just got the best advice in their life! This deeply frustrated me for the longest time. I eventually learned to accept it and simply lead by example. I even encourage my brothers and sisters to talk with my kids whenever they have moments. For the day that they need my direction, the instructions will be locked in their memory. Not from me yelling at them, but from watching me and doing as I have done. Every parent should remember that one day their children will follow their example, not their advice. This probably follows at all levels of leadership as well. Leading by example means that we have to be willing to put in work in order to get the best out of those that follow us.
