2025 Week 14 – Finding Purpose in the Chaos: Why Uncle Art Camp Still Matters

There’s so much going on in the world—and in my life—right now. Honestly, it feels like everyone is carrying something heavy. Jobs come and go. Things break and need fixing. Kids get in trouble or just need a little motivation to keep going. And let’s face it—the U.S. feels like it’s in chaos.

So yes, there are days when I think about giving up. About settling into a 9-to-5 routine, coming home, eating, showering, sleeping—and doing it all over again. But then I hear the voices of the kids: “Will there be Uncle Art Camp this year?”

That question snaps me out of the fog. Graduation season is here, and we’ve got a few family members stepping into the next chapter of their lives. And as always, my family steps in, helping shoulder the responsibilities that come with running something as special as our summer camp. Their support lightens the load in a big way.

So yes—we’re planning for July.

We’re gathering supplies. We’re writing menus to make sure the kids get three solid meals a day. We’re prepping the film studio to host a new round of creative, inspiring art classes. It’s a lot. But you know what? That “a lot” is exactly what gives me purpose.

Something about the challenge of it all gets me out of bed with a fire in my chest. I love having a goal. I love seeing a path laid out in front of me—even if it’s full of obstacles. I’m excited about every opportunity placed before me.

Nobody ever said it would be easy. But for me, it’s always worth it.
