2025 Week 06 Sometimes… Simply Listen to the Kids
Four kids sat in our film studio at @RockwellNo8 to shoot their first ever podcast. I had no idea if they were capable of holding a 20min conversation or not. We didn’t know if the parents would be in the room or not. They paused when I said, “Quiet on set ….ACTION!”. Then they jumped right into conversation like they had been meeting for years having these discussions. They were playful, witty, considerate, and brutally honest at times. They went for nearly 16minutes with no prompts from me nor their parents and I thought, “wow!, did I underestimate these kids.” I feel like we need more open and honest conversations where we just let kids talk. They are impacted heavily by the decisions we make. But they are the most flexible, hopeful, wishful, and optimistic people you will find. They randomly grab toys and play while talking. They correct each other but are never disrespectful. They quickly pivot the conversation when it gets boring or goes too far. They are grateful for the opportunity. There is much to learn from our kids. We only have to LISTEN.
