2025 Week 11 – I Never Quit

In this photo, I’m all the way in the back, holding what some might call a participation trophy. I wasn’t the star athlete like my brothers—there’s the defensive back, the running back, the quarterback… and then there was me. My talent wasn’t in sports; it was in art. But sports gave me something priceless: a way out of the house, a sense of belonging, and the discipline to push through challenges. The conditioning gave me strength I never knew I had, and the struggle taught me resilience.

Growing up, I played football, soccer, and even had short stints in basketball and tennis. My father had one rule: if we started a season, we finished it—no excuses. Even if our grades kept us from playing, we still had to show up, stand on the sidelines, and learn what commitment truly meant. To this day, I’d rather not start something at all than start and quit halfway through.

But I am human. There are days when frustration creeps in—whether it’s self-doubt, opposing views, broken systems, or office politics. The temptation to walk away is real. Yet, I stay. I push forward. Because every challenge is an opportunity to grow. That’s why I pursued Six Sigma certification years ago—to refine my ability to solve problems, to tackle obstacles head-on.

I wasn’t built to quit. And neither were you. Keep going. Keep pushing. The struggle shapes you, and the discipline carries you. Success isn’t about always being the best—it’s more than often found in refusing to quit.
