Entry 004: Wake Up Early

I have a message for my friends and my sons, and my nephews and my nieces as well. “If you hang out with the boys you still got to get up with the men.” It’s ok to enjoy life and have fun or even have your lazy days. But when there is work to be done, we get up and get to it. Eliminate putting off for tomorrow, what can be done today. I have several youth and adults in my circle that attempt to cease the day after 3pm, a time by which me and my brothers will have accomplished everything we set out to do for the day. So when they call us asking for anything, we are already home planning dinner and relaxing.  This was instilled into us by my father who woke us up before 8am even on weekends. We were free to take naps later in the day, but that morning was not for sleeping. He used to say “get up boys be’fo the worms get ya.” We would laugh like “we don’t even know what that means pops! But 46 years later, I’m still getting up being productive. I’m still handling business early and fighting procrastination daily. We still got to get up. It is a blessing to rise up each morning with the strength and wisdom to do great things. So I want all my people to take advantage of the morning hours!
