DAY 045 - Marketing that Relates
I seen someone put potato chips on their sandwich on a Publix commercial and it made me smile. I have been wondering why there is so much content that is hard to relate to. Thinking these companies have been scarred by cancel culture. They seem scared to take risk. See, we grew up eating potato chip sandwiches. Though not like the ones they had on the commercial which had plenty of deli meats, lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, I found it a beautiful risk to relate to those of us who do things differently. I remembered growing up 1 of 8 kids when a small pack of deli meat had to be split up. So, with only 1 thin slice of meat, we needed other items to bulk the sandwich up so we would get full. Insert potato chips. We are often viewed as weird. Across our communities, we have varied upbringings and traditions. There is a quirkiness to all of us that often stays hidden in our homes. I applaud the marketing department of Publix for taking a fun risk and being willing to laugh at themselves.
