DAY 064 – Put the Work In
We use the term Perception is Reality a lot in my world. Another way to view that is that our work is only a presentation of our capabilities. This gives renewed meaning to the term “Put your best foot forward.” With or without praise or accolades, I want to be known for high quality work. I want to be known as kindhearted and more than capable. I’m ok with being overqualified. I remember in college I was working as a dishwasher in Reinhardt College’s cafeteria. My boss at the time jokingly told me to go clean the grease off the roof. I didn’t get the joke and asked him if they had a ladder in the back. He told one of his business partners that I would be a millionaire one day because of that same attitude. I always looked at jobs as if they were my own company located in my house. I wouldn’t want the toilets to be dirty or the dust to pile up. So, you would often find me cleaning rather than trying to track down a janitor because someone’s oatmeal spilled over in the microwave. I really believe that this translates upward as we begin to take on the management of projects, programs and people. When I’m hiring, I always look beyond the resume for examples of work ethic. #8robinsons #8robinsonstv #untamedcreativebeings #Choices #paths #contentcreator #digitalmediachampion #servantleadership #management
