DAY 077 – Don’t Jump Without a Place to Land
I know so many people who take clips from famous people and apply the words spoken in the 10second bit to their life. A while ago, telling would be entrepreneurs to “JUMP” became a catch phrase / buzz word. I watched and listened to stories of so many people who quit their jobs in order to follow their dreams. Everyone had a plan. But what is quickly learned is that you should never “JUMP” without a place to land. The average entrepreneur is going to need multiple streams of income so should keep a full or part time job until their business demands they spend 100% of their time there. If you really love what you do, then you can contract projects out to others for your personal business. Employing others is one of the best things any business can ever do! I’ve never JUMPED into an entrepreneurial situation, but I have been pushed. Even then I quickly established long term contracts so that I could have somewhat of a monthly budget. I’ve rented rooms in my house to decrease my mortgage cost. I’ve paid off vehicles to eliminate car notes. All things I consider a part of creating a place to land. Find a mentor and have open and honest discussions about your plans. Take some feedback. There are those that are in a constant state of Free Falling, all because they JUMPED without a place to land.
