DAY 082 – Learn it Until You Earn It
Anything that you pretend you are, you are not. It’s worth the effort to do the research and plot the course to becoming whoever you dream to be. If a college degree isn’t realistic, try certificate programs at local community colleges. If time doesn’t allow for school, find a mentor or an apprenticeship. And if that doesn’t work, watch 10,000 hours of related YouTube content. Get the point yet? There is no excuse to pretend to be something or someone you are not. Many jobs train on the job. I’ve interviewed and hired many people whose true colors and true skill quickly showed when it came to doing the work. I’ve been in positions where I was hired to do jobs that didn’t fit my core skillset. So I’ve vowed to only be me. I’ve made a commitment to myself that I would put the hours in to get the education and experience in whatever field I entered. Though I’ve always been a creative talent, I still continue to learn and seek new areas to grow into. In relationships, I’m 100% honest about my intentions and my 1, 5 and long-term goals. If they don’t align with my person, then I’m ok with walking away. Pretending only prolongs the inevitable day that truth reveals exactly who we are. Don’t fake it until you make it but instead, “Learn it until you earn it.”
