DAY 107 – Be Uniquely You
Never put your all into trying to be like someone else. When you do, you limit yourself to that person’s standards. You instantly take on characteristics that are not your own and you lose a large part of what makes you unique. It was easier for me to be unique as a young person. I made my own clothes and danced to the beat of my own drum all the way through my 1st few years of college. I wanted to look different and loved how it felt to stand out and shine as a shy but positive and creative individual. But the older I got, the more I found desire to fit in. I bought polo and oxford blue dress shirts because I had seen executives at work wear them. I even learned to speak different so that people could clearly understand me. I changed much about me at home to adapt to marriage life. While these changes and others help us adapt to our new work and home environments, over time they chip away at who we really are. Then by the time we realize how much we have changed from who we truly are, we have completely changed into something we are not. It’s actually worth looking in the mirror and doing a self-check a few times a month. The real you can succeed in this world. There is a path for us all. Be uniquely you.
