DAY 114 - No Excuses
Having nothing is not an excuse for doing nothing. I’ve been told by several close acquaintances that they don’t feel like they can help others because they can’t help themselves. I refused to allow myself to adopt this way of thinking. Without a dime in my pocket, once simply shook a homeless man’s hand and shared my food with him. He told me it meant so much to have made contact with another person. He told me that I could not understand the feeling of watching 1,000’s of people past you each day, yet not feel any human contact. To him, a hug or a handshake was just as valuable as the food or money that most expect to be given. In that moment, I learned this lesson. Having nothing is not an excuse for doing nothing.
