Day 215 - Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
It occurs to me that when you are working towards doing the seemingly impossible, most people will only be able to focus on what you “can’t” do. It is super important for us to learn to focus on what we can do despite the noise around us. While doing the Porsche Driving Experience, I learned that where your eyes focus the most, you will eventually end up in that direction. I remember being terrified as a metal plate in the ground kicked up to spin my “borrowed” Porsche out of control and all I could hear was the instructor besides me saying keep your eyes on the blue wall in front of us. I must have spun around 4 or 5 full circles that in reality lasted only a few seconds but felt like 5 minutes. But I didn’t want to show fear. I kept my hands on the steering wheel and every time the car would spin, I would make sure to focus on that blue wall. To my surprise, when the car came to a stop, there I was… in the center of the lane calmly facing the blue wall!! Find something positive to focus on. A place, a person, an idea or any good goal will do. Keep your eyes on the prize and ignore the distractions.
