Day 022 – Soak up Knowledge
I don’t think the kids in our family understand the value of their current environment. They have the unique ability to gain invaluable experience just from being around, listening and watching all of their entrepreneur Uncles and cousins. The things we speak on are the things we spent 6-8 years in colleges learning. Some have traveled around the world and brought back knowledge and culture. We have built brands from the ground up and ALL that knowledge is at their fingertips. Companies employ us and quickly move us up as they realize the benefits. OTHER people’s experiences are the best teachers.
Day 021 – Forgiveness is Instant Healing
I have had moments where there was so much anger and frustration built up that if I didn’t let go, I would definitely have an outburst. Moments losing loved ones, being laid off from past jobs, and being disappointed by those closest to me have all been horrible experiences. But the one thing I maintain control of, is MY ability to forgive. MY forgiveness can be granted whether I am forgiven or not.
Day 020 - The Pivot
A buzzword that I am hearing around the industry now is “Pivot”. These words come along often as they get mentioned across blogs and media sources. Then come the books, podcasts, and TV shows and not necessarily in that order. The ability to know when and how to Pivot is an incredibly important skill. When the COVID pandemic started, businesses and individuals alike had no choice but to pivot and find alternate ways to succeed at business. Years later and the challenge remains for most.
Day 019 - What Do You Deserve?
I have seen enough solar returns to have learned some key lessons in life. I’ve heard so many quotes about what we deserve. The most popular was “You don’t get what you deserve, you get what you earn.” Growing up my mom would tell us “You get what you get, and you don’t pitch a fit.” Maybe she understood that although some people worked super hard, they would still maybe not get what they deserved. As kids we were told and taught that “Life isn’t fair.”
Day 018 - Discipline is Mandatory
One of the biggest challenges that I face daily is maintaining discipline. It can be a heavy burden to manage several brands that include events, podcasts, and web series. There are those mornings where I snooze the alarm for at least two 15min extensions on my sleep [lol!], and weekends when I think to myself, “why can’t I have normal weekends where I watch sports and nap on my couch?” My weekends are spent shooting and editing video footage and planning social media post for the upcoming week.
