I have been through several pivotal moments in my career. These days I spend the majority of my spare time producing unscripted tv shows learning as I go. This leaves little time for the web and design clients and projects that I was so well known for servicing. I am finding that it is taking an incredible amount of patience as past clients continue to ask for work and even refer me to others. They make saying “no” very difficult.

It can be difficult letting go of the past. Afterall, it contains elements of everything that made us who we are today. It can be a place of comfort. Where at least we know what we are dealing with and the unknown is relatively nonexistent. But to in order to grow, we have to go and if we are tied down to our old ways of thinking, old people who hold on to us, or old fears that bind us, then failure is surely around the corner. I understand that I can’t drive a car focusing on the rearview mirror. If I am, it usually means I’m going in reverse or spending too much time worried about who or what is behind me. I’m super focused on moving ahead in life and mentor those around me to do the same.

When working on any project in the past, I’m excited at the beginning with all new possibilities. Then it seems that the entire process is filled with stress and worry. Once the project is complete everyone is happy, and a celebration follows. I have learned to enjoy the process. I’ve found joy in the journey. Every single issue becomes an opportunity. These are the moments where I learn new things and even my confidence grows. All the good bits take place during the journey.
