DAY 107 – Be Uniquely You
Never put your all into trying to be like someone else. When you do, you limit yourself to that person’s standards. You instantly take on characteristics that are not your own and you lose a large part of what makes you unique. It was easier for me to be unique as a young person.
DAY 106 – Listen Twice
I attended the With P.A.S.S.I.O.N. virtual workshop with Lincoln Kokaram and got so many gems that I will be sharing. They were good reminders of lessons once taught. One that particularly stood out was that “we have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen twice as much as we speak.” I remember as a child, I would be playing or watching tv and my parents would tell me to go get something from another room.
DAY 105 – Everything Easy
Everyone wants the prize but no one wants to make the journey to get it. Maybe technology is responsible for creating a culture of making everything readily accessible. Technology seeks to solve problems and more than often can eliminate the need to work hard. Something as simple as a nail gun greatly decreases the amount of time it takes to frame a home,
DAY 104 – The Ugly Way
Experience has taught me that sometimes the right way is the ugly way. Sometimes it is the hard, unpaved, gritty, dark, 60hr work week path that is needed to reach a goal. A path where the normal processes don’t work and the typical analytics can’t measure well enough. What job or school teaches you to operate on feeling and instinct?
DAY 103 – What Can You Live Without
Since I left corporate America, I have learned one main lesson on finances. Attaining Richness and wealth is not so much about what we make as it is about what we can do without. I had just come back from driving my son to school, then planted lettuce in my garden and cooked me some breakfast. I smiled looking out the sunroom window at an apple tree I had planted over a year ago now thriving in the backyard. Then I logged in to my laptop for work and thought “this is really a beautiful life.”
